Top 10 Hottest Handbags for 2010

2010 is here, ladies! And, of course, we all want to know what THE look for spring and fall bags is going to be. Here is our list of some of the most amazing new designer handbags that are sure to be in high demand this year!

10) Gucci G Wave Large Leather Tote.
Made in a rich nutmeg color, this fabulous everyday bag that is sure to be a hit. The bag has a braided strap and a giant 'G' logo on the front with the braiding design incorporated into it. We love the slouchy shape of the bag and the silver metal hardware. The leather is exquisitely soft and there are subtle crocodile accents that remind you of Gucci's more exotic beginnings. Luxury that is subtle enough to tote around with you every day; what more could you ask for?
9) Louis Vuitton's Speedy in the 25 centimeter size.
Monogrammed bags will probably never go out of style. The Speedy is a great style, and we personally love the 25 centimeter size the best. While maybe a couple of years ago the 40 would have been more popular, this year we will see handbag sizes scale down quite a bit from those huge Olsen-style hobos, so go with the 25. 8 ) Alexander McQueen's Leather Biker Satchel.
The punk inspired biker style is still going to be huge throughout 2010, and one of our favorite motorcycle gear inspired purses is the Alexander McQueen Leather Biker Satchel. The best part about the bag is the tons of pockets it has! And, McQueen made the bag in black leather as well as a rich blue leather. The blue follows the ultra-bright 80s trends we have been seeing recently. While some may still shy away from such vibrant hues, we think its fabulous!
7) Chanel's Coco Cocoon line.
Breaking out of their more simple style, Chanel released their Chanel Coco Cocoon line with Lily Allen as postergirl. Obviously appealing to a younger crowd, many of these ultra-hip bags are made of nylon, giving the classic Chanel style a ski jacket type twist.
6) Jimmy Choo's Martha Perforated Clutch.
Perforated leather is a fabulous new trend for 2010. Designers from YSL and Prada to Bogetta Veneta have created bags made with this kind of textured leather that is perfect for springtime. This one has fabulous zipper details and is an eye-popping shade of fushia.
5) Chloe's Marcie Hobo.
Hobo bags are still huge for 2010, however, they are being done on a smaller scale than they were a couple years ago. This one by Chloe is perfectly sized while still having that great slouchy shape. The leather is done in a great light tan color that makes it go perfectly with almost piece in your day to day wardrobe. We also like the tassels, which add a little subtle playfulness to the bag.
4) Yves Saint Laurent's Small Satin Chain-Strap Bag.
Small and sassy little clutches are going to big big in 2010, as is metal hardware. It is for those reasons we love this YSL bag. Its gunmetal gray colored satin combines edginess with absolute luxury, making it easy for this bag to transition from day to evening. It's chunky gold hardware is not too flashy, and it is a bag that demands to be carried in hand and not over your shoulder. Overall, a great statement purse from YSL.
3) Coach's Krisitin Line.
Coach handbags will be just as popular this year as they were last year. The Kristin line, which was just released a few months ago, shies away from the logo designs that have been so popular from Coach. The bags were made in gorgeous colors such as coral, emerald green and plum, and there are some embossed animal-inspired designs as well. Some of the leathers are matte, while others are rich and glossy. Finally, the bag has the classic gold chain-link handle that is going to be so enormously popular in 2020. Check out our selection of Coach Handbags.
2) The Hermes Birkin.
One of the most incredibly popular designer bags on the market right now is the Hermes Birkin. Simply done in classic black, the bag has fabulous silver metal hardware details with a little lock and key detail, and we love the satchel shape. This is one bag that you will keep for decades, and it will age wonderfully and never go out of style.
1) The Chanel 2.55.
Yes, Chanel makes our top ten list again. Chanel bags are almost indisputiably the end-all when it comes to classic, timeless handbags. Those unschooled in their fashion history would never realize that the 2.55 was originally released in 1955. Fabulous chain handle, quilted design, and small and simple size. If you are feeling extra sassy, pick one up in silver, a bold marigold color or in lipstick red.
